Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight: Time Goehrig discusses his role in A Chorus Line

Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight:
TIM GOEHRIG discusses his role in A CHORUS LINE
Tim Goehrig (Mark) is proud to be returning for the 3rd time to the LOH stage. A Chorus Line will be his second performance with Red Carpet Theater Productions. Previous roles include The Fantasticks (Mortimer), Oliver (Bill Sykes), Me and My Girl, Cinderella, Bye Bye Birdie. Thanks to previous dance teachers/choreographers Miss Sharon, Miss Taylor, Miss Schupp, and Stacey J, all of whom inspired him to pursue this role. "Dedicated to my mother Sandra Goehrig, with special thanks to Roswell Park Cancer Institute for allowing her to continue watching me perform. Love you Mom"

RCTP: Tell me about the first time you saw A Chorus Line , did you ever think you would have the opportunity to be cast in the show, and what makes you want to be a part of this production? TG: "The first time I saw A Chorus Line was at Sheas when the National Touring Company came to Buffalo. I was captivated by the talented performers on stage and I thought 'I want to do that.' I knew the story was one I could associate with as a performer. I have loved the music for ACL since the first time I heard it when I was a kid, I especially liked Mike's song "I Can Do That!" I never thought that I would be cast in A Chorus Line, but I knew if I worked hard and committed, that I could have a shot."

RCTP: What Character do you play in A Chorus Line and do you have any similarities in common with your character?
TG: "I play Mark Anthony (really Mark Philip Lawrence Tibori). Mark is the youngest dancer on the line, and he is eager to get into his first Broadway show. He embodies the spirit of all of those who have ever wanted to pursue their dreams. He is energetic, funny, and is just starting to make his way out into the world as a young adult. I feel a strong connection with Mark. I am one of the youngest members in this cast, and have been in past productions. I also wasn't always an actor; in fact there was a point in the recent past where I never would have thought I would be on stage someday. Mark didn't always know what he wanted to be, he "was just a kid for a while." But like my character, I want to face new challenges and someday share the stage with the talented performers on the line!"

RCTP: A Chorus Line was conceived and originally Directed/Choreographed by Buffalo’s own Michael Bennett. If he were here today, what do you think his thoughts would be about the level of talent in this current production, with most of the talent coming from the Western New York Region?
TG: "I believe Michael Bennett would be proud of this production. We have talented singers and dancers, all of whom are dedicated to his or her craft, and all have experiences similar to the performers who were involved in the birth of ACL. Michael Bennett would also be an advocate of the performing arts in Buffalo and would encourage public funding for the arts. The level of talent in WNY is incredible, and what theater can do for a community is priceless."

RCTP: What do you like most about working with Red Carpet Theater Productions?
TG: "I love the level of commitment on the production staff. Red Carpet goes above and beyond when it comes to making the talent feel comfortable and prepared going into a show. I have worked with RCTP in the past and will continue to in the future."

RCTP: What is your next project?
TG: "I do not have plans for a "next project." I will be going out for many more shows, but I like to find challenging pieces that I can feel a connection with, so I do not plan out more than one show at a time. I have many roles on my bucket list that I would love to cross off, "I hope I get it""

A Chorus Line will be performed at the Lancaster Opera House from January 20,2012 -February 4, 2012. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 716-683-1776 or by visiting the Lancaster Opera House website at www.lancopera.org

Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight: STEVEN EDWARD SITZMAN discusses his role in A CHORUS LINE

Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight: STEVEN EDWARD SITZMAN
discusses his role in A CHORUS LINE

Steven E. Sitzman (Mike) Steven E. Sitzman (MIKE) - Steven was last seen in the Curtain Up! production of Floyd Collins at the American Reperatory Theatre of WNY and CSI: Buffalo at Road Less Traveled Blacklight. Other Regional credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, My Fair Lady, Assassins, and Fall: A Rock Musical among others. You may have seen Steven perform at Darien Lake Theme Park and Resort in 2006, 2008, and 2009. He is also a proud 2010 graduate of the Niagara University Theatre.

RCTP: Tell me about the first time you saw A Chorus Line, did you ever think you would have the opportunity to be cast in the show, and what makes you want to be a part of this production?
SS: "I first heard the original cast recording while riding home from tap class with my friend Ian at the age of 16. A few years later I was visiting New York for New Years, and on New Years morning we got $30 student rush tickets to the revival of A Chorus Line. Up until this point I had really only seen the movie and heard the cast recording, however throughout the performance I was overwhelmed with emotion, as I am when most Broadway shows start. It was like every emotion I was feeling as a performer, even at a young age, was channeled into 19 characters. 19 characters who all spoke from my heart, and it seems that is how this show is for a lot of people. What really makes me want to be involved in this show is that it means so much for so many people. To me, this show is about living for your passions, even when that road is going to be the toughest road you've ever walked on. After taking the last year off from theatre to concentrate on songwriting in NYC, this show is the perfect reminder of my passion. Musical Theatre."

RCTP: What Character do you play in A Chorus Line and do you have any similarities in common with your character?
SS: "I play the role of Mike in A Chorus Line. With the exception of me not actually having any Italian in my bloodline, Mike is exactly like me. Well, My entire life people have always said that I was a goofball. I agree. As a performer, I feel as though this role plays to my strengths as a song and dance man. The purpose of Mike's signature song "I Can Do That" is to assure the audience that the night ahead of them, while being innovative and different, still has that song and dance quality that audiences throughout the history of musical theatre have grown to love. The phrases that Mike tells you are perfectly in sync with my life. I won't get into specifics, but I will say that my take on this role is heavily influenced by my own quirks and experiences."

RCTP: A Chorus Line was conceived and originally Directed/Choreographed by Buffalo’s own Michael Bennett. If he were here today, what do you think his thoughts would be about the level of talent in this current production, with most of the talent coming from the Western New York Region?
SS: "If he was here today I'm sure he would appreciate our production for what it is. I think our production is paying adequate tribute to Bennett's genius; taking highlights from his work and marrying it to all of our collective takes on the characters and choreography among other things. I think Bennett would be amazed at how much the Arts as a whole have grown in WNY, as well as the caliber of talent in our show."

RCTP: What to do you like the most about working with Red Carpet Theater Productions?
SS: "This is my first time doing a project with Red Carpet behind the wheel. I'd have to say my favorite part is the caliber of talent that John and everyone at Red Carpet has put together. In theatre, especially in a smaller city like Buffalo, it would almost seem impossible to cast A Chorus Line and have everyone be "Triple Threats," but that is how this cast is showing up every day to rehearsal. As Professionals. As Triple Threats. With the credit going to wonderful team at Red Carpet Theatre Productions."

RCTP: What is your next project?
SS: "The next project I will be working on is an original play called Men of Like Passions. Written by Buffalo's own playwright Justin Karcher, whose OCCUPY ANIMAL FARM adaptation is playing at Subversive Fall 2011. "Passions" will debut with Theatre Jugend this spring."

A Chorus Line will be performed at the Lancaster Opera House from January 20,2012 -February 4, 2012. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 716-683-1776 or by visiting the Lancaster Opera House website at www.lancopera.org

Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight: BETHANY BURROWS discusses her role in A CHORUS LINE

Red Carpet's Artist Spotlight:
BETHANY BURROWS discusses her role in A CHORUS LINE

Bethany Burrows (Val) is excited to reunite with Red Carpet Theater Productions and perform along side this talented cast of A Chorus Line. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children with a Theatre concentration and a minor in Theatre at SUNY Brockport.  Bethany has been very active in musical theatre throughout New York State.  Some past and favorite roles include Eponine in Les Miserables; Yonah in Children of Eden; Gabriella in Disney’s High School Musical; Little Sally in Urinetown; Shelby in The Spitfire Grill; Eve in Children of Eden; Luisa in The Fantasticks (Red Carpet Theater Productions), Cordelia in Falsettos and Helga in Cabaret.  While studying Theatre at Brockport, Bethany took a detour from musical theatre to perform her first dramatic role as Sybil in the Mainstage production of The Cover of Life, for which she received an Irene Ryan Nomination for Acting Excellence.  If Bethany isn’t on stage you can find her behind the camera as she is a photographer by day; she was also the performance photographer for Red Carpet’s 2011 production of Tuesday’s with Morrie.  Bethany would like to thank her family and friends for their constant love and support (especially for making those long trips to see her perform!) as well as the extremely dedicated Production Team and Cast of A Chorus Line for “One Singular-Sensational” experience!

RCTP: Tell me about the first time you saw A Chorus Line, did you ever think you would have the opportunity to be cast in the show, and what makes you want to be a part of this production?
BB: "The first time I had a glimpse of A Chorus Line was almost ten years ago when my senior dance number was performed to the infamous song “One.” We wore the gold costumes and everything! Little did I know or expect to be seen wearing that flashy costume again but I couldn’t be more excited and proud to be a part of this talented cast!"

RCTP: What Character do you play in A Chorus Line and do you have any similarities in common with your character?
BB: " I am playing Val – the sassy, foul-mouthed dancer who couldn’t get cast in a show until she had surgery to improve her looks. In many ways, Val’s personality is different from my own (which is what makes taking on this role exciting); however, I relate to some of her insecurities as well as her spunky, bubbly characteristics. Val can seem blunt, even harsh sometimes and her confidence (she appears to have) makes others think she had it easy all her life. The truth: she struggled as many of us do to get to where she is today and is constantly fighting to keep her chin up and push for her dreams. That, I can relate to."

RCTP: A Chorus Line was conceived and originally Directed/Choreographed by Buffalo’s own Michael Bennett.  If he were here today, what do you think his thoughts would be about the level of talent in this current production, with most of the talent coming from the Western New York Region?
BB: " I think Michael Bennett would be impressed by what he sees in Red Carpet’s cast of A Chorus Line…not only by their talent, but the dedication and willingness of the cast to work together to make this production as amazing as it can/will be. He may also be blown away by how accurately the show was cast as each actor portrays and stays true to their character. Michael would be proud of his fellow WNY-ers!"

RCTP: What to do you like the most about working with Red Carpet Theater Productions?
BB: "Red Carpet Theater Productions treats their actors extremely professionally and can relate to them at the same time; they are always concerned about the actors’ well-being throughout the entire production experience. Red Carpet Theater Productions has a place in my heart as I was fortunate enough to have been part of The Fantasticks, which I’ll always remember ”...the Kind of September…and Follow…” Red Carpet is like a family and with each new project they take on their family grows a bit more!"

RCTP: What is your next project?
BB: "I do not have any projects officially set as of now, however; I do have some auditions in mind this winter. Here’s to hoping I get it!"
